Description:Stone Railway Station was built between two railway lines, Norton Bridge and Colwich (on the London line), in 1848. Its Jacobean-style architecture was the work of Hunt, and the archway led to separate waiting rooms for ladies and gentlemen.
The first passenger train to use the station left Stoke for Norton Bridge on 17 April 1848, drawn by No. 1 engine 'Dragon'.
The tower and chimney behind the station belonged to Bent's brewery.
