Description:Stafford's toll-gates were located at Littleworth, Hyde Lea Lane, Derrington, Acton Gate, Sandon, Yarlet, Rowley Park and opposite the castle gates. A toll was a charge for permission to use a road or bridge, the money collected being used for maintenance.

This toll house was situated at the junction of Weston Road and Tixall Road in Littleworth. The gates were removed in 1878 and the house was replaced by a public house, The Gate.
