Description:South view showing a brick Jacobean house with five `stepped' gables. There are stables to the right and a family walking in the park in the foreground. Inscribed to Thomas Lane of Bentley by R. P. L. L. D., [Robert Plot].

In 1747-8 the Lane family sold the Hall to the Anson family, and by 1811 the old Hall had been taken down. The new Hall which replaced it was demolished around 1927-1930 and the site was then occupied by Bentley Hall colliery.

Also showing the Lane coat of arms.

Drawn and engraved by Michael Burghers for Robert Plot's 'Natural History of Staffordshire', first published in 1686.
