Date:1930 - 1950 (c.)

Description:The Francisan Friary was founded about 1229 by Alexander Strarensby, Bishop of Coventry and Lichfield, and was dissolved in 1538. The Friary was demolished and the only building left was the Bishops Lodging, which was given to the City of Lichfield by Sir Richard Cooper in 1921.

With the construction of the Friary road in 1926, the remains of the house were incorporated into the Friary Girls High School. In 2003 the building was the Lichfield Library and Record Office.
