Description:View of the forecourt of Atkey's garage, which still occupied this premises in 1987. There are covered petrol pumps and the showroom is glass-fronted.

Sir Albert Atkey of Nottingham established A. R. Atkey and Co, motor engineers in 1897. The company had branches in Nottingham, Mansfield, Derby, Ashbourne and Uttoxeter, and was a major distributor for Austin cars and trucks. Twice married, he died, aged 80, in November 1947.
