Description:One of the three towers at Stafford Gaol. The towers were added in the mid- nineteenth century to provide accommodation for the warders and their families. The prison did not house offenders between 1920 to 1939 and, due to the housing shortage of the 1920s, the Borough Council rented out the towers as private housing.
The towers were demolished in 1953 when they were found to be unsafe, probably due to brine pumping works underneath.
