Description:General view of the early workings of Tamworth Colliery, with the Brickworks in the foreground, Coventry canal in the centre, and Tamworth colliery in the background. The figure to the right in the photograph, apparently on top of a narrow boat, is Mr. Wilson who worked at the Brickworks. Both Tamworth Colliery (renamed Alvecote colliery in 1941) and Tamworth Colliery Brickworks were situated in Alvecote a short distance from Alvecote Priory. This photograph was probably taken when the colliery was being dismantled.
