Description:The Assembly Rooms are seen here with the Volunteer Fire Brigade extending a ladder to the left of the building. The Assembly Rooms were built in the Italian Renaissance style by public subscription to commemorate Queen Victoria's Jubilee in 1887. The building was used as the venue for large public meetings, plays, dances, and special occasions, and was still used for these purposes in 2003.
