Description:Large group of female munition workers and military musicians outside Siemens factory. The photograph was taken during the annual hospital pageant and the band hold collecting boxes for Staffordshire General Infirmary, and their instruments.

Siemen's relocated to Stafford from Woolwich in 1903 and manufactured generators, electric motors and various other electrical appliances. The Siemen brothers were German so at the beginning of the First World War the factory was taken over by the government and put to war work.

In 1918 Siemen's merged with several companies, including Dick, Kerr and Co., to become the English Electric Co.
