Date:22nd of April 1953

Description:This fire involved three stacks of 40ft long Swedish high tension cable poles that were lying alongside the main Newcastle-upon-Tyne to Birmingham railway line at Wilnecote sidings. Tamworth, Atherstone and Sutton Coldfield fire brigades were involved in fighting the fire, which caused considerable damage destroying more than 60 of the poles.
