Description:The earlier Serpentine reservoir was found to be inadequate to supply enough water to the Caldon canal. Knypersley reservoir was built as a supplement by Hugh Henshall in 1827. Hugh was the brother-in-law of James Brindley and was his successor. He completed the building of the Trent and Mersey canal in 1777. The weir is the overflow from the reservoir
