Description:This scene shows the former thirteenth century mill to the left of the picture. It was used as a corn mill for most of its working life but originally it may have been a lead smelting mill. Lode Bridge stands over the River Dove along the road locally known as "The Pinch" which leads to the A515 Ashbourne-Buxton road. The parish boundary of the neighbouring parish follows the line of "The Pinch" indicating great antiquity.
