Description:View of the town from the vantage point of High Shutt. The building, alongside the road is 'The Grange', a mid-19th century house, which replaced an earlier dwelling there. The Grange is now run (in 2003) as a bed and breakfast. Beyond the Hall a lake can be seen. This is Hales Hall Lake, with the Hall (built 1712 by the Grosvenor family) being close by, within the trees to the right. To the left of the photograph the spire of St. Giles' R.C. Church can be seen. This was built between 1841-1846 to the design of A.W. Pugin, and is widely regarded as one of his masterpieces.
