Description:On the right the Tean Hall Mills stand out prominently. In 1747 Messrs. John and Nathaniel Philips & Co. set up a tape manufacturing business in Tean Hall. It was to become one of the oldest and largest of its kind in the country. During the 19th century the business was expanded to become the New Tean Hall Mills, with three and four storey buildings built close by. Not suprisingly the tape industry was by far the area's largest employer. In 1959 the site was re-named the Tean Hall Mills.
