Description:Mrs Tellwright is seen receiving a honorary badge from a group of un-named men.
Horton Lodge was built in 1890 by Stephen Chesters-Thompson, the Manchester brewer and Conservative politician. Only fours years later he was forced to sell the house because of serious money problems. The house was bought by William A. M. Tellwright, a colliery owner at Sneyd in Burslem who extended the house and laid out gardens. In 1925 the house was converted into a Miners' Convalescent Home by North Staffordshire Miners' Welfare Association, being used for this purpose until 1948 when it was turned into a venue for adult weekend residential courses. The building's use changed again in 1950 when it became a school for special needs children.
