Description:Sir Benjamin was Surveyor of the Court of the Wards and Liveries in 1632 during the reign of Charles I. He was famous among his contemporaries for being a great poet, orator and wit, and his nickname was 'The Silver Trumpet of Parliament'.
The surname Rudyerd (later Rudyard) was adopted by Ranulphous de Tettesworth after he was granted land in the manor in 1165. His descendants continued to live in the district until 1723, when the manor was sold.
