Description:Coopers standing in the Middle Yard, with the boilerhouse in the background. The two young men on the front row were celebrating their 21st birthdays, as shown on the cask head which they were holding. Gerald Cooper is on the left (with the scarf) and Harold Hughes is on the right. On either side of them are their respective tutors, George Davenport (on Gerald's right) and Harry Curtis (on Harold's left).

Also, on the second to back row, second from left is Eric Reed, and sixth from left is Dennis Ward. Eric Reed lived in Beech Street, while working as a cooper for Bass. He was apprenticed by the company and stayed with them until the cooperage closed down. He then went to Duckenfields, in the Manchester area to be a jobbing cooper, before working for ICI.
