This W. Stanier 8F 2-8-0 locomotive was built in Glasgow and saw service from May 1942, initially as LMS 8266, renumbered in December 1948 as BR 48266, withdrawn and condemned in June 1967 and scrapped in November 1967.
The locomotive depot which was a short distance south of Burton-upon-Trent Railway Station closed in 1968 and in later years a large part of this area was redeveloped as a retail and business park.
