Description:The 18 inch narrow gauge 0-4-0 locomotive "Jack" built in 1898 by the Hunslet Engine Company for John Knowles & Co., manufacturers of fire bricks and earthenware pipes at Newfields Pit, Ashby Woulds, Leicestershire. Jack was used to transport clay materials to and from the kilns until it was withdrawn from service in 1957. This photograph was probably taken at Newfields Pit after it was decommissioned.

The locomotive was restored in 2008 and painted in Midland Railway red livery. It is owned by the Leeds Industrial Museum at Armley Mills and is on loan to Statfold Barn Railway near Tamworth (2018).
