Description:Reed pen ink and wash drawing by Great Haywood born artist, Thomas Peploe Wood (1817-1845) showing the porch of Byanna, Eccleshall.

The name Byanna means 'beyond the dean', or out of the town. The Bishops of Lichfield lived here after Eccleshall Castle was destroyed in 1643 during the Civil War, until it was rebuilt in the late seventeenth century. This sketch shoes the house shortly before it was rebuilt in 1838.
