Description:In the early 1890s Boots published a book of ‘Fine Art Views of Burton’. The book contains many local scenes including several brewery interior and exterior views, public buildings, churches, street and market scenes, bridges and river views, and country houses.

Above this group of four images the title is: Boots Cash Chemists and Stationers, Picture Frame Makers, Fancy Goods Dealer, and Booksellers. The pictures show the interior and exterior of the Boots branch at 161 High Street in Burton. Boots also had branches on Lichfield Street, Station Street and Borough Road. The top left picture: A corner in the Chemist Dept. Top centre: Stationery Dept. Lower left: General view of the Fancy and Fine Art Showrooms and on the right is the store’s frontage on the High Street.

The building remains (January 2024) although over the years it has changed use and while the upper floor windows and roof line are still recognisable from the above picture, the ground floor shop frontage is completely different.
