Description:This view shows the west front of Bladon Castle, near Newton Solney and Burton-upon-Trent, on the Derbyshire side of the River Trent.

Bladon Castle was originally built as a folly in a Neo-Gothic style in 1779 by leading architect Jeffrey Wyatville for Abraham Hoskins of Burton-on-Trent. It was built on the summit of Bladon Hill which formed part of the Newton Hall estate and was designed to give the appearance of a large castle with battlements, although it was actually little more than a single long wall. The structure remains (January 2024) and the east front of the castle looks down towards the River Trent; it can be seen from the Newton Road, B5008. In later years part of the building was converted into a private house.
