Description:A view looking over the Market Place towards St, Modwen's Parish Church, Burton-upon-Trent. The market is still held here today but much diminished from this busy scene on the cobbles. The Market Hall, seen on the far right on the photograph, was built in 1883 by Lord Paget on the site of a 15th century market. A competition for its design was won by Dixon and Moxon of Barnsley.

On the left are the premises of C. Jackson, Jewellers and Watchmakers, who previously had premises on the High Street.

Photograph from 'Boots Fine Art Views of Burton', published by Boots Limited in the 1890s.
