Description:Beds, wounded soldiers and staff at the Red Cross Hospital in Burton Town Hall. Burton Red Cross Hospital was opened on 11 August 1914 and had 55 beds for soldiers wounded on the Western Front during the First World War. Another 25 bed ward was opened at nearby St. Paul's Institute on 9 December 1914.
