Description:This silver gilt casket was presented on behalf of the townspeople of Burton-upon-Trent to their Mayor, Charles Paget, the 6th Marquess of Anglesey, on the occasion of his marriage to Lady Victoria Marjorie Harriet Manners, a daughter of the Duke of Rutland. The presentation took place at the Buckingham Palace Hotel, London on 1 August 1912 and the marriage took place at St Peter's Church, Euston, London two days later. The Marquess was also presented with the Honorary Freedom of the Borough and the associated illuminated vellum scroll was placed inside the casket. He was the first person to receive this honour.

The casket was about 21 inches long and 12 1/2 inches high, standing on velvet and oak base. At each end are seated figures: Britannia holding the trident and shield and the other representing Civic Government, bearing the shield of the town and a laurel wreath. Enamel plaques on the front left depicted Burton Town Hall; and on the right Beaudesert Hall. The other side had similar exams of Burton Abbey and the Waterloo Column. Surmounting the casket is female figure wearing the civic gown. The extended right hand holds a scroll whilst the other grips a bunch of hops. At her feet sit two cupids.
