Description:Kidsgrove railway station was opened 9 October 1848 by the North Staffordshire Railway as Harecastle Station. It's name changed frequently in the 19th century, being variously known as Harecastle Junction, Kidsgrove Junction. Kidsgrove Junction, Harecastle, and Harecastle for Kidsgrove. In 1944 it was renamed Kidsgrove Station.

In British Rail days it was known as Kidsgrove Central at a time when the town had two other stations: Kidsgrove Liverpool Road and Market Street Halt on the Potteries Loop Line. It stands on the Manchester branch of the West Coast Main Line at the junction where the line from Stoke-on-Trent divides for Crewe and Manchester Piccadilly.
