War memorial unveiling, Weston

Description:The unveiling of Weston's War Memorial took place on 24th May, 1923. It was performed by Sir Walter Congreve, V.C.; K.C.B; M.V.O. of Chartley Castle. The Rev. R .F .Edwards, who performed the Service, stands in front of the large crowd gathered for the ceremony.

The memorial stood at the junction of Old Road and Stafford Road but was moved in 1968 to its present position on Green Road near the Woolpack Inn. The houses in the background still exist on Old Road.
