Description:This postcard view looks south along the Leek Road to the Cellarhead Crossroads with Kingsley Road on the left and Cellarhead Road on the right.

Most of the buildings in the picture remain (2023) although some have changed use. In later years the small barn on the left has been demolished, the adjacent Bowling Green Inn (previously the Spotted Cow) has since been converted into a health centre. Also on the left the shop is now a private house and in the distance the Hope and Anchor Inn later became an Indian restaurant. Many of the buildings on the right are now houses.

For many years there were four public houses at this crossroads, with the Hope and Anchor, the Spotted Cow which became the Bowling Green Inn around 1905, the Red Lion which stood opposite on the right, and on the other far corner was the Royal Oak.
