Description:A postcard view of Swinfen Hall which was built in 1757 by Samuel Swynfen to a design by local architect Benjamin Wyatt. The Hall was extended in the early 20th century by Lieutenant-Colonel Michael Swinfen-Broun. On his death in 1948 the estate was bequeathed to the Church and City of Lichfield, and most of the land was sold off. The Hall was unoccupied for many years until it was purchased by the Wiser family who bought the Hall and six acres of gardens in 1987 and converted the main building into a hotel. The surrounding grounds have been extended to around 100 acres to include landscape parkland, formal gardens, woodland, a deer park has been created and the Victorian walled garden has been restored.
