Description:A mock fortified arch stands over New Street, as part of the decorations for the Diamond Jubilee Celebrations for Queen Victoria. On the right is the Crown Inn and opposite, The Green Man Inn, whose landlady was Mrs A. Taylor. The Crown Inn was owned by Mr Michael Carter at the time. It is now (February 2022) occupied by the Bengal Village restaurant. The buildings next to it, where the arch stands, had been demolished and replaced by the General Post Office by 1905.
