Description:On the reverse of this pen and ink drawing is the handwritten inscription: 'Deans Farm. Mr Painter's house, Newport Rd. where Mr Denham's house now stands. Sketched by W. Allen.'

This is probably Deanshill Farm which originally belonged to St. Mary's Church. In the mid 19th century it was racing stables run by Joseph William Painter (died 1866). The farm was demolished and replaced by a large house named 'Deanshill' in about 1870. The site is now occupied by houses on Castle Way and Deanshill Close.
