Description:A military funeral procession at the crossroads in Milton, Stoke-on-Trent, looking north along Leek Road with Bagnall Road to the right.

It is believed that this photograph was taken on the occasion of the funeral of Pte Enoch Willott, aged 27, of the 3rd North Staffordshire Regiment. He, his wife Ellen and their children lived at Heaton Street (now Hillman Street). He died from cardiac failure accelerated by pneumonia on 20 May 1915 while on sick furlough from Devonport. The funeral took place on Saturday 22 May with military honours. 85 men of the 3rd and 4th North Staffordshire Regiment and Royal Artillery took part in the procession between his home and the Wesleyan church. Also in the procession were members of Staffordshire County Police under Inspector Dix. A memorial service for Pte. Willott and the late Pte Booth was held by the Rev. J. Lewis Smith at the Wesleyan Church. The funeral was reported in the Staffordshire Advertiser on 29 May 1915 and in the Staffordshire Sentinel on 25 May 1915.
