Description:Taken from Union Street looking at the junction of Station Street with Guild Street. The Midland Hotel is on the right-hand corner and the old police station is opposite.
The October flood was the second that year, the earlier one having occurred in July. Together the floods caused serious damage estimated at £100,000.
