Description:This postcard view was taken looking north from the Wharf Road junction with Newport Road which is on the left, looking towards Station Road and the former railway bridge in Gnosall. On the right is Oak Cottage which remains (June 2023).

The railway bridge carried the L&NWR Shropshire Union Line from Stafford to Shrewsbury via Newport and Wellington, which opened in June 1849. The line closed on 7 September 1964. In later years the bridge was demolished. On the right of the bridge and just out of view from the camera is where Gnosall Railway Station stood. The station's wooden booking office was moved to the Foxfield Railway at Caverswall Road Station, Blythe Bridge.

This postcard was franked on 22 February 1905 in Eccleshall and it was sent to an address in Shrewsbury.
