Description:A postcard view taken soon after the unveiling of the Memorial on the 9th November 1922. People can be seen visiting the memorial which is located on Rugeley Road and was constructed on land donated by the Marquis of Anglesey. As well as the people, bicycles, motor cycles, a baby's perambulator, dogs and the Union Flag can be seen. A shortage of funds meant that the memorial was not complete at its opening. The surroundings were not fully laid out and the plinths with shells had not been installed. It was deemed complete by 1927.

The postcard was not stamped but has a message on the back to an unknown recipient from 'M.J.':
"This is the entrance to our war memorial which was unveiled by Princess Alice on Nov 8th [n.b. it was actually November 9th] her husband came with her it was a lovely day the streets were all decorated & the hills were crowded with people & soldiers & mounted police then there was a short service on Armistice Day at the memorial".

The postcard was photographed and published by C.W. Tooth of 9, Cannock Road, Hednesford,
