Description:A multi-view postcard of Rudyard Lake. The top left picture shows visitors on the landing stage at the south end of the lake, top right is of the lake’s dam wall also at the south end of the lake, the lower left and right pictures are general views of the lake.

Rudyard Lake is a reservoir constructed in 1797 by engineer John Rennie to feed the Caldon Branch of the Trent & Mersey Canal. It is around 2.5 miles long and covers roughly an area of 168 acres. Over the years the lake has been used for numerous leisure activities, including boating, fishing and walking.

This postcard was franked on 3 July 1937 in Rudyard and sent to an address in Accrington.
