Description:The war memorial takes the form of these impressive gates, which lead on to Ball Haye Park recreation ground. Above the gates, a Latin inscription reads 'Pro Patria' ('for the homeland'), whilst metal plaques on the two gateposts list the names of those who served and those who fell in World War I. Each gatepost bears a carved wreath, bearing the dates '1914' and '1919'.

The memorial gates were unveiled on 5 November 1922 by Lt. Col. Challinor and dedicated by the Rev J.A. Howell.
