Description:An aerial view of Stafford District General Hospital taken from the south-east.

Stafford District General Hospital cost £25 million to build and opened in June 1983. Staff, departments and patients from Standon Orthopaedic Hospital, Groundslow Hospital and Burton House Maternity Hospital transferred here. Some staff and departments of Staffordshire General Infirmary also moved in.

In January 1996, after this photograph was taken, a £10 million extension opened, built to replace the Staffordshire General Infirmary. Since 2014 it has been named County Hospital, Stafford and is currently (2023) managed by the University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust.
