Description:A carriage drawn by four horses being driven by a uniformed soldier climbs up High Street, Tutbury. A liveried and bowler-hatted groom sits behind with whip. Another groom runs behind. Children sit atop, one holding up a post horn.
This photograph was taken during 'War Weapons Week' in 1918, raising funds for the war effort during World War One. Children were given rides at 3d each to cover printing expenses. The note on the reverse of this postcard indicates that the carriage belonged to Bertram Mills' Circus but was being taken care of by Mr Henry Newton of Tutbury during the war.
