Description:The manor of Oakley was held from about the 13th century by the Chetwode family, whose seat was the Chetwode Manor estate in Buckinghamshire. A manor house existed at Oakley from the 16th century but the present Oakley Hall was built by John Chetwode in 1710. It remained the seat of the Chetwode family until the family sold it in 1919.
