Description:In 1938 Shallowford House, a large 19th century house, was given to the Diocese of Lichfield by the Webster family for use as a training and conference centre. It still belongs to the Diocese and is now known as Shallowford House Christian Retreat and Conference Centre.

This postcard was franked in Stafford on 6 August 1939 and sent to Saxilby Vicarage in Lincolnshire. The message reads: 'I think you may be interested in this photo of the new retirement house. The bit with one chimney is the new wing & the chapel is in the bit jutting out on the left - it is a lovely chapel. Photo is taken from Rose Garden'.
