Description:On the right is Bluebarn Farm, said to have grown hops for Joule’s brewery. It was demolished in 1964.

In 1946 Joule's purchased the land at Downs Banks from Viscount Sidmouth. It was presented to the National Trust on 22 July 1950 ‘as a thank offering for victory in the 1939-45 War and as a memorial to those who died there’.
