Description:This photograph dates to around 1955 shortly after Isabel was saved from scrapping after being retired at the Cliffe Hill Granite Company of Markfield, Leicestershire. The engine was named after John Rupert Fitzmaurice's (1865-1949) wife Isabel (nee Bennion,1871-1905). Fitzmaurice was the Chairman of the Cliffe Hill Granite Company Limited.

The engine was bought back to Stafford where she had been built in the 1890's, for restoration by apprentices at Bagnalls works in Stafford. Following restoration Isabel would be put on a plinth, first outside the Bagnalls works and later outside Stafford station. A full restoration was completed in the late 1980's after which Isabel was moved to Amerton as a working steam engine.
