Description:A postcard advertising Waterborne Tours showing one of the company’s boats on the Shropshire Union Canal at Shebdon Bridge, near High Offley.

Waterborne Tours had offices at the Canal Wharf, Penkridge and operated boats ‘Mafeking’ and ‘Prince’ on Midlands canals from about 1952. The proprietor was Thomas Whitley. The company was one of the first to offer narrow boats for hire when the British Transport Commission started to encourage the development of Britain’s canal network for leisure use.
