Description:The early 19th century town house formerly known as The Shrubbery, adjoining the buildings of St. Mary’s Home on Station Street, Stone.

In the latter half of the 19th century it was the home of doctors and surgeons, but between 1868 and 1870 it was a Preparatory School for the Sons of Gentlemen run by the Misses M.A. and S.V. Heeley. In 1890 it was owned by Dr Daniel and by 1897 it was owned by Edward Francis Coghlin, surgeon of Longton. Shortly afterwards, in 1898, it was purchased by St. Mary’s Home to provide accommodation for women of limited means who required nursing and care. Since 1981 it has been occupied by Regency House Dental Practice.

A postcard view by Stone photographer Phillip Dutton, of 63 High Street.
