Description:The audience for an event at the Victoria Hall in Hanley including civic dignitaries and Ruby Murfitt who is seated second row from the front, 3rd from the right. A talented pianist, she lived at 63 Lichfield Street, Hanley and was much in demand at musical events in the Potteries. We are not sure at which event this photograph was taken, but it could be the National Children's Festival of Youth which took place at Victoria Hall on Saturday 10 October 1953.

She was born Ruby Stanway on 4 June 1899 at Elgin Street, Burslem and married Arthur Murfitt in 1921. The Murfitt family lived at Sneyd Green. She died, aged 70 in 1970.
