Description:Timber being hauled through Hawksmoor Wood by the Hanson Green tree-felling gang with a team of four horses.

Hawksmoor later became a nature reserve, the first in Staffordshire, founded in 1933 by John Richard Beech Masefield. He was President of the North Staffordshire Field Club four times during the 49 years he was a member. Hawksmoor is now (2023) managed by the National Trust.
