Description:Standing on Leek Road, this building opened in 1894 as the Town Hall. Film shows took place while it was still Cheadle’s Town Hall and around 1915 it became a cinema, and latterly also a bingo hall until its closure in 1971. Thereafter, films were shown intermittently until the 1980s while the front section was converted to Ossie's and then Whispers night club in the 1980s. In 1995, after having being threatened with demolition, the facade was preserved with housing accommodation built behind. Now known as Osborne House it still has much the same appearance, but without the central porch and steps seen in this postcard photograph.

The card was posted in 1905 to a Bristol address. There is a billboard posted on the left which may advertise 'Eureka'.
