Description:This postcard view shows a quiet scene by the pond and cottages at Broad Hill, near Gnosall. Out of sight of the camera but nearby is the former Broad Hill quarry, a source of Triassic sandstone known as the Sherwood Sandstone Group, also known as Keuper or Bromsgrove sandstone, which is suitable for building purposes. Stone from Broad Hill, Cowley and the Hollies was used in the building of Gnosall Church, although all the carved stonework is of a similar type of sandstone brought from Grinshill quarry in Shropshire.

This postcard was franked on 2 August 1927 in Coton and it was sent to an address in Moddershall, Stone.
