Description:The Petrifactions can be found at Cotwalton Drumble. Here, cold February weather has left a spectacular series of icicles.
Petrifaction occurs when minerals in flowing water build up over time to form features. There is no evidence of petrifaction at Cotwalton Drumble, rather the waterfall and undercut embankment have been created by erosion of the soft sandstone strata.
